Q. How does one become a registered medical marijuana user in Colorado?
A. Blue Sky Care Connection, LLC can help you through the process in one visit! In accordance with Colorado's Amendment 20, a patient who has been diagnosed and has obtained certification by a physician licensed in Colorado with a debilitating condition in which symptoms may be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana may apply to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card. Within 30 days of physician approval, patients should submit a notarized application along with the Physician Certification form, a copy of a photo ID, and the non-refundable $90.00 application fee to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The Registry will verify the licensure status of the physician and may contact the physician to verify the certification. Verifications will occur within 30 days of receipt of the application. The Registry will mail the patient a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card within 5 days after the verification. The patient will also be notified within 5 days after the verification process if the application has been denied. You can legally obtain medication, however, upon physician certification. For a nominal fee, patients of Blue Sky Care Connection, LLC can expect state registration to be completed on their behalf. We also will remind you when it's time for your annual renewal.
Q. What are considered debilitating conditions according to Amendment 20?
A. So far the state recognizes eight conditions which warrant the use of medical marijuana although research has revealed medicinal benefits for a wide array of ailments. Those eight conditions are cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS positive, cachexia, chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy, or persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis. Patients and physicians may submit petitions to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to include other medical conditions in which symptoms may be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana.
Q. How do I get approved for medical marijuana use?
A. You should have your medical records reviewed by a compassionate physician, who may be willing to write a recommendation, if he/she feels that your condition may be relieved by use of medical cannabis. If you are uncomfortable discussing this with your current physician, contact Blue Sky Care Connection, LLC for guidance.
Q. What is the definition of a primary care giver?
A. According to Amendment 20, "...primary care giver means a person, other than the patient and the patient's physician, who is eighteen years of age or older and has significant responsibility for managing the well-being of a patient who has a debilitating medical condition..." In other words it may be interpreted as a person who may be delegated by you to grow, obtain, or in any other way provide your medicine or wellness needs. As long as "...the patient and his or her primary care-giver were collectively in possession of amounts of marijuana only as permitted under this section..." which is "no more than two ounces of a usable form of marijuana, and No more than six marijuana plants, with three or fewer being mature, flowering plants that are producing a usable form of marijuana..."
